A Marlin, Texas police officer has been fired from the department after being arrested on Oct. 23, the Marlin Police Department has announced.

Officer Bernard Ronald Ketter was arrested on Oct. 23 following a traffic stop by a Texas DPS Trooper. Ketter was allegedly pulled over for speeding on I-35. According to the Bell County Sheriff's Office, during the stop, Ketter "became irate" and was arrested for resisting arrest. He was booked into the Bell County Jail and was later released on bond.

The Marlin Police Department said Ketter was suspended with pay on Oct. 24 and an internal investigation was launched in accordance with department policy.
