ROYAL OAK, Mich. (WILX) - An Oakland County woman refused to cooperate in court Tuesday as she faces charges for allegedly killing an 83-year-old man in Royal Oak.

The alleged attack happened last Friday, Oct. 24 while 35-year-old Samantha Booth was babysitting a toddler.

Investigators say the child’s mother couldn’t reach Booth that night so she asked her father — 83-year-old David Ong — to stop by the house to check on them.

When he didn’t respond, the child’s uncle went to the house and found Ong on the ground, covered in blood. Authorities say Booth also tried to attack the uncle with a screwdriver as he ran out of the house with the baby.

He eventually escaped to a neighboring home and called police, who arrested Booth following a brief chase.
