NEW MEXICO (KRQE) — The National Park Service is gearing up for controlled burns around the Valles Caldera National Preserve. The burns are scheduled to begin Nov. 3.
The fires are meant to clear out overgrown brush and hazardous fuels. The NPS says smoke may be visible from Highway 4 and surrounding communities. According to fire officials, people with smoke sensitivities should stay indoors.
