Amazon announced Tuesday that it plans to eliminate about 14,000 corporate jobs as the retailer ramps up its spending on artificial intelligence.
In a message sent to employees Tuesday morning, Beth Galetti, senior vice president of people experience and technology at Amazon , stated that a previous note to employees explained how the company wants “to operate like the world’s largest startup,” and be set up to “invent, collaborate, be connected, and deliver the absolute best for customers.”
“Many of you have put significant into that work of strengthening your organizations by reducing layers, increasing ownership, and helping reduce bureaucracy,” Galetti’s message reads, expressing appreciation for Amazon workers’ compliance.
