CLEARFIELD COUNTY, Pa. (WTAJ) - A budgeting error may lead to a tax increase for Clearfield residents after a discrepancy was discovered between the borough and the Clearfield Regional Police Department budgets.
The issue stems from a $215,000 difference between the Clearfield Borough and the police department budgets, which has prompted local leaders to address the shortfall to maintain police services.
"There was a difference between the borough and police department budgets," Dennis Biancuzzo, a Clearfield Borough Council member, said. "So that's what this meeting was about last night, to address that difference and continue police protection."
The Clearfield Borough Council voted to approve the unexpected cost to maintain police services, although the decision was not unanimous.
