CABELL COUNTY, W.Va. (WSAZ) - Four weeks into the government shutdown, and communities are starting to feel the effects.
One restaurant group in our area is taking it into their own hands.
Kelly Lester, owner of Smokin Momma’s, said, “In owning restaurants, we knew that we needed to help the community somehow, someway, to be able to get out here and help these communities, because it’s not just people with kids. It’s the elderly. It’s everybody that’s going to be affected by this.”
Lester said they are asking the community to help with donations. They have several drop-off locations set up.
At Smokin Momma’s by the Huntington Mall and at Cattlemen’s Roadhouse in Cross Lanes, both have semi-trailers to collect donations.
Kel’s Tavern in Ashland and Charleston are also drop-off location
