HENRICO, Va. (WWBT) - Tuesday marked the first time air traffic controllers missed their first full paycheck since the government shutdown began at the beginning of October.

Many airports are seeing the impact with controllers calling out in even larger numbers, meaning delayed flights from coast to coast.

Travelers departing and arriving at the Richmond International Airport, though, reported no significant issues with their flights on Tuesday.

“No delays, no issues getting through TSA, even with the shutdown,” said Katrina Wynn, a traveler at the airport.

“I haven’t had any, and I do travel quite extensively every week,” Sally Slick, another traveler, said.
