MCMINNVILLE Ore. (KPTV) - The Linfield Wildcats football team is one win from extending its consecutive winning season streak - already the longest in college football history.
“The Streak,” as it in known in McMinnville, dates back to the 1956 season.
Since then, the Wildcats have gone 558-125-10, racking up 68 consecutive winning seasons in the process - more than 20 years longer than the next closest streak, belonging to University of Mount Union in Ohio.
They’ll aim to extend that to a 69th season Saturday, when they host the Lewis & Clark Pioneers.
Wildcats coach Joseph Smith, who took the helm in 2006, is just 12 wins shy of tying the legendary Ad Rutschman for most wins in program history.
