HENDERSON, Ky. (WFIE) - This past Tuesday, around noon, Timothy Oliver escaped from the Henderson Detention center.
As we’ve reported, Oliver was a jail trustee, and was working outside refurbishing bicycles.
A deputy was outside supervising Oliver when they say he got on one of the bikes and rode off.
Colonel Richard Hendricks with the detention center says keeping inmates from running is more complicated than it seems.
“Was there some human error? Yeah there was human error, there always is,” Hendricks stated. “Bottom line, if an inmate’s gonna run he’s gonna run. Ain’t much we can do about it. They’re gonna find a way, whether it be transport or work release.”
He says Oliver was a Trustee, which was based on his state-determined custody level.
