NEW ORLEANS —
Former Louisville quarterback Tyler Shough has been named QB1 in New Orleans.
The former Cardinal is taking over under center on Sunday against the Rams in his first NFL start.
Saints Coach Kellen Moore benched Spencer Rattler for Shough midway through the team's loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Week 8. Shough completed 17 of 30 passes for 128 yards, one interception, and zero touchdowns against the Bucs. It was the first time Shough took the field since Week 3 in a blowout loss to the Seattle Seahawks.
After an extensive battle during training camp, Rattler beat out Shough for the starting spot. Rattler, a former South Carolina Gamecock, has struggled in the past two games with six turnovers — four interceptions and two fumbles.
