The Ronald Reagan Foundation also objected to the ad, protesting that it misquotes Reagan. Trump's critics in the media have countered, with networks such as MSNBC running Reagan's 1987 address, in which the late president stated that the road to economic prosperity is to reject protectionist legislation.
Though the ad didn't misquote Reagan, even the anti-Trump networks concede the featured address was slightly doctored by rearranging sentences.
