MINNEAPOLIS — More than 40 million Americans are expected to lose federal food aid on Saturday amid the government shutdown.
Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) benefits are set to lapse on Nov. 1.
"It's just creating an awful lot of anxiety," said JobyLynn Sassily-James of northeast Minneapolis.
Sassily-James is one of more than 440,000 Minnesotans who will be impacted.
"The situation I feel like we're entering into right now is really untenable," she said.
On Tuesday, Sassily-James visited Melrose Center in St. Louis Park. She comes to the center for treatment for her eating disorder, Avoidant Restrictive Food Intake Disorder (ARFID).
"I don't get any hunger cues. I can go days without eating... I'm not food motivated," Sassily-James said.
