More than 50 people have been arrested and charged with 833 offences in a major Operation Ironside sting across South Australia linked to the encrypted AN0M app.

Deputy Police Commissioner Linda Williams said 55 people were arrested today, taking the total number of people arrested as part of the operation since 2021 to 164.

"This is a significant blow to organised crime across Australia," she said.

She said hundreds of police officers were involved in raids at 23 properties, resulting in $25.8 million in assets being seized by police.

Six of those arrested were already in custody.

Some of those arrested were previously charged during the first Operation Ironside sting in June 2021.

They began appearing in court today about lunch time, with more expected to appear this afternoon.
