Jammu & Kashmir: In the Sanatan Dharma, the month of Kartik holds immense spiritual significance. The eighth day (Ashtami) of the bright fortnight (Shukla Paksha) of this month is celebrated as Gopashtami. This sacred festival highlights the importance of Gomata (the holy cow), Lord Shri Krishna, and the service of cows (Goseva).

In this regard, Mahant Rohit Shastri (Jyotishacharya), President of Shri Kailakh Jyotish avim Vedic Sansthan Trust (Registered), Raipur Thather (Jammu & Kashmir), informed that this year, the Sunrise-observed Ashtami of Kartik Shukla Paksha falls on Thursday, 30th October. Therefore, the festival of Gopashtami will be celebrated on that day with devotion and enthusiasm.
