ASHEVILLE - Southern Appalachian Highlands Conservancy has added 120 more acres to the Roan High Preserve, which adjoins Pisgah National Forest in a network of connected, protected land that stretches from the crest of Roan High Knob to the foot of the Roan Massif.
The newly conserved land in Mitchell County includes headwater tributaries and portions of the main branch of Gouges Creek, according to an Oct. 23 newsletter from the conservancy, an Asheville-based nonprofit land trust.
