SHREVEPORT, La. -- As Breast Cancer Awareness Month comes to a close, there’s encouraging news that more Americans are surviving cancer overall. But experts say there’s still much to learn—especially about lesser-known types of the disease.

One form that’s now getting more attention is lobular breast cancer, which develops in the milk-producing glands. While U.S. breast cancer rates overall have been growing at about one percent a year, incidence of this specific type is increasing more steeply than other forms.

According to the American Cancer Society, signs to watch for include nipple inversion, hardening of the skin of the breast, or dimpling.
