DETROIT, MI - A Detroit police officer may face criminal charges after shooting a woman six times during a traffic stop and pursuit.

The officer, who has been with the Detroit department for nearly two years, shot at the woman during a traffic stop on Sunday, Oct. 26, in the east part of the city, Detroit Police Chief Todd Bettison said in a press conference Monday.

The officer originally pulled the woman over for speeding, as well as having tinted windows and an obscured license plate. During the stop, the woman provided her license, registration and proof of insurance. She then requested to speak with the officer’s supervisor multiple times, even calling 911 while the officer was by her car, Bettison said.
