LOUISVILLE, Ky. (WAVE) - On Wednesday, WAVE News went inside the Louisville Metro Police Department’s Real Time Crime Center to learn more about how the department is using security cameras from everyday people and businesses for public safety.
“It makes our officers more effective in their response time, makes them more precise, and it makes our communication with that officer when they’re coming on that scene just a lot more effective,” said Corey Robinson, Assistant Chief, LMPD. “We have 273 registered cameras and another 1,392 cameras that are integrated.”
The public safety program is called CONNECT Louisville. Wednesday, city leaders urged more businesses and people to sign up and participate, they say, to help keep Louisville safe.
