ATLANTA, Ga. (Atlanta News First) - Woodstock has given Walmart the go-ahead for its drone delivery service, making it the first metro Atlanta city to do so, according to city officials.
The City of Woodstock recently approved permits for Wing, Walmart’s drone provider, to deliver from the retailer’s Highway 92 location, officials said in a press release Wednesday.
The service will roll out once Wing – a subsidiary of Google parent company Alphabet – finishes the drone hub, called a “nest,” at the store. City leaders did not give a date for when the work will be finished.
Launched in 2021 in Bentonville, Arkansas, and later spreading to Dallas, Texas, the FAA-regulated delivery service promises customers items within 30 minutes.
Each drone can drop off just under 2.5 pounds of goods wi
