The Traffic Engineering Department is taking new steps to make Anchorage’s neighborhood streets safer, calmer, and easier to get around. It’s all part of the new Neighborhood Greenways Program, designed to connect residential areas to the city’s expanding multi-use trail network.
As part of the plan, the city has proposed 12 new routes that could be designated as Neighborhood Greenways in summer 2026. These streets were selected for their low traffic volumes and connections to local trails and parks.
Proposed Summer 2026 Routes
Caravelle Dr — Raspberry to Jewel Lake Rd
Blackberry & Collins Way — 88th Ave to Jewel Lake Rd
S. Fish Creek Connections — Van Buren Rd, W 45th Ave, and Taft St
W 7th Ave — N St to Cordova St
E St — W 10th Ave to W 3rd Ave
Waldron Tunnel — Folker St to Cache
