Taco kits sold at Aldi in Illinois and numerous other states were recalled over a risk of serious allergic reaction after the kits' seasoning packets were swapped for cocoa mix packets.

Teasdale Foods, Inc. recalled certain Taco Dinner Kits this week after the company received complaints that the kits came with cocoa mix packets — that contain milk — instead of taco seasoning packets.

The cocoa mix packets did not list the presence of milk, posing a risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions to consumers with an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk, the FDA said.

"Subsequent investigation indicates the problem was caused by mislabeling of the taco seasoning packets by the third party that provides the seasoning," the FDA said in the recall announcement .
