CRAVEN COUNTY, N.C. — A statewide manhunt is underway this morning for a man accused of murdering his grandmother -- and stabbing a deputy who confronted him.
The suspect is 24-year-old Dominic Connelly.
Investigators responded to a house fire in Havelock last Saturday and found 72-year-old Patricia Lopedote dead. An autopsy ruled her death a homicide.
Last night a deputy confronted Connelly at a Bojangles in Vanceboro and got stabbed in the leg.
The deputy is recovering.
Connelly was last seen wearing a dark colored shirt and pants with a dark colored jacket.
Anyone with information about Connelly's whereabouts is asked to call 911.
