LAKE CHARLES, La. (KPLC) - This week’s Hometown Hero is a veteran who is creating multiple ways to recognize other veterans who deserve to have their voices heard.
William Ducotey of Lake Charles joined the Marines in 2006. Following his deployment, he did as many often do, finding his way back home and to school.
“I went to McNeese State University. It was two years there, and I kind of realized that I wasn’t taking care of business like I should. And I wanted to do something more meaningful and impactful.”
That’s when William began looking internally, searching for guidance for the next phase in life.
“Self-reflect and course-correct. Like, I recognized I wasn’t doing anything beneficial for my family and my community, so I needed to change that.”
The change he made was a big one. W
