APPLETON, Wis. (WFRV) - As the government shutdown endures and threatens food assistance programs with funding losses on November 1, Kemps and Festival Foods are helping those in need.

On Thursday morning, the duo delivered over 30,000 shelf-stable Giving Cow milk cartons to Feeding America Eastern Wisconsin to help those in need.

Over 700,000 people could face hunger issues as the FoodShare program in Wisconsin runs out of funding due to the shutdown, 200,000 of whom are children, Feeding America said.

Feeding America also said that shelf-stable milk donations are crucial, as milk is one of the most requested but least donated items at food banks due to poor refrigeration.
