GRAND CANYON NATIONAL PARK, AZ (AZFamily) — Visitors heading into the Grand Canyon can now stop at two newly-reopened campsites, months after the Dragon Bravo Fire devastated the national park.

Phantom Ranch and Bright Angel Campground will reopen to visitors beginning Saturday. In addition, the Phantom Ranch area and the lower section of the South Kaibab Trail, will also reopen to the public.

The lightning-sparked Dragon Bravo Fire, which wiped out dozens of buildings including the historic Grand Canyon Lodge this summer, forced the closure of select campgrounds and trails on the North Rim. The fire exploded to roughly 145,000 acres, making it the seventh-largest wildfire in Arizona history. It took two months for fire crews to contain the massive fire.
