VIRGINIA, USA — Virginia Republican gubernatorial nominee Winsome Earle-Sears' campaign bus caught fire Thursday while en route to an event.
The fire happened around 12:17 p.m. on Route 33, also known as Spotswood Trail in Greene County. Authorities said the bus driver, the only person on board at the time, was not injured. One firefighter sustained a minor injury while responding to the blaze and was treated and released by Greene County EMS.
In a statement, Earle-Sears thanked first responders for their rapid response. “Everyone is safe. Thank you to the first responders who got to the scene quickly — we are so grateful for you,” she wrote.
