WASHINGTON — A scary Thursday for the Winsome Earle-Sears campaign. At 1:17 p.m., the campaign tweeted that while en route to an event, the bus caught fire.
Everyone was safely deboarded. Fire and rescue crews arrived at the scene shortly after and extinguished the flames.
Earle-Sears is in the running to make Virginia history if elected to be governor. When her opponent, Abigail Spanberger, heard about the fire, she took to social media to share her relief that no one was hurt.
"I’m relieved to hear Winsome Earle-Sears and her team are safe after her campaign bus caught on fire this afternoon.
I’m grateful to our first responders for their quick action — and I’m thinking of the Lt. Governor and her team after this scary incident."
The campaign says everyone is safe and thanked first
