EVANSVILLE, Ind. (WFIE) - We’re learning why Illinois state leaders decided to close the DMV in Mount Carmel.

Secretary of State Alexi Giannoulias says the facility only processed around 15 driver’s licenses a day which is among the lowest in the state.

He also says his office reached out to legislators to find a solution but none were provided.

The DMV will close on Friday, November 14th.

Officials say you can still get services at nearby facilities, including Lawrenceville, Fairfield and Carmi.
