NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WSMV) - More than half a million Tennesseans are expected to lose access to millions of meals as funding for SNAP benefits are set to expire this weekend.

Those who use EBT cards to pay for groceries and other food items will can expect their funds to dry up soon, as the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program (SNAP) will not refill funds for the millions of Americans who use it. It’s the result of the ongoing government shutdown as a stalemate persists between the two dominant political parties in Washington DC over the budget for the new fiscal year.
