‘Familiarity is gone’

Perhaps nobody documents life on Outer Banks more vividly than photographer and Buxton native Daniel Pullen. Here’s what he observed on Tuesday, Oct. 28 as the wind and waves caused five oceanfront homes to collapse there.

I was disoriented all day…not sure where I was…what street I was on…it doesn’t look the same…places that were there…are no longer there…streets that were there…are no longer there…familiarity is gone…some of the strongest storm surges I recall seeing here in a while…still surging 3 to 4 hours passed high tide…swell peaks tonight/tomorrow.
