WASHINGTON, DC – Two federal judges Friday ruled that the Trump administration must continue to fund SNAP food stamps.
The benefits were to stop on Saturday because of the continued federal shutdown.
The president had argued that his administration was not allowed to use any contingency funds to continue the SNAP program.
The judges in Massachusetts and Rhode Island both gave the administration the leeway to fund the program partially or in full in November.
Local governments and organizations in the Hudson Valley and Catskills had promised to provide funding to keep the benefit going for residents who are in need.
