Two men have been attacked by a large dog in Loftus . Emergency services were called to the incident which left a 74-year-old man seriously injured in hospital.
A 50-year-old man was also bitten by the dog and received treatment to his wrist. The owner of the dog, a 64-year-old man, was arrested in connection with the attack, which happened around 9.25am in West Road on Friday, October 31.
The 74-year-old remains in hospital receiving treatment on Monday, November 2, having suffered a serious injury to his arm. Cleveland Police said the dog, a large cross breed, was contained inside the premises by officers and has since been removed and taken to specialist kennels.
