In the wake of the Huntingdon train stabbing, the actions of a ‘heroic’ rail worker left with critical injuries are being praised by police.
The unnamed LNER staff member tried to stop the attacker, as the driver acted quickly to divert the train to Huntingdon station, where police swarmed the scene to make an arrest.
The driver has been named as Andrew Johnson, an ex-Navy Iraq war veteran.
Anthony Williams has been named as the suspect, charged with 11 counts of attempted murder. One of the charges relates to a different attack in the early hours on the day of the mass stabbing.
Cambridgeshire Police have referred themselves to the police watchdog after three further incidents have been linked to the alleged attacker.
Two relate to a man with a knife in a barbers in Fletton on Friday
