MCDOWELL COUNTY, N.C. (FOX Carolina) - The McDowell County Sheriff’s Office reports a man was charged with starting a fire as part of a domestic incident in October.

Deputies said they responded after fire and EMS crews told them about a man who was walking away from the area of a structure fire on Oct. 27.

Jeremiah Nathan Bartlett was stopped nearby, and an investigation determined that an argument with his wife led to his sending video and threatening texts to her that confirmed he started the fire, according to deputies.

Deputies report Bartlett was charged with burning personal property and communicating threats and was denied bond as the incident was related to domestic violence.
