CHARLESTON, S.C. (WCSC) - A South Carolina House committee is gathering public feedback on the SCDOT’s efficiency as lawmakers address infrastructure complaints.

The House of Representatives’ Department of Transportation Modernization Committee is looking into billions in infrastructure funding that have not produced results quickly enough for residents.

Many major roads that are heavily traveled throughout local cities and towns are owned by the DOT. Representatives say this ownership structure creates a disconnect between the department and local residents about desired infrastructure improvements, prompting a reevaluation of the department’s functionality.
