PHOENIX — A man was arrested Sunday after police say he stole a truck with a 3-year-old inside. When the man tried to return the child but keep the truck, he was stopped by the child's father and neighbors, according to police.
Officers were called to a home on West Roosevelt Street around 10:30 a.m. Sunday for a reported kidnapping and truck theft, according to the Phoenix Police Department.
When officers arrived, they found Francisco Roman Ruiz being detained by community members.
"We held him by the back of his collar and held him up against the fence," said Ronda Kirkpatrick, a neighbor.
Kirkpatrick said about ten neighbors helped catch the suspect. From blocking the road with their cars to getting the toddler out of the car.
