FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - A 30-year-old Fort Wayne man learned his sentence Monday in a deadly 2017 shooting.
Fargo Bennett was charged in the cold case homicide of 27-year-old Jason Underwood, who was killed on Aug. 13, 2017, in the 1800 block of E. California Rd.
Bennett was scheduled to go to trial last month, but it was canceled last minute when he accepted a plea agreement. He pleaded guilty to conspiracy to commit murder resulting in death in exchange for a murder charge being dismissed and a set 30-year sentence.
The Allen County Prosecutor’s Office said Underwood’s family was present for the change of plea hearing and agreed with its terms.
