FORT WAYNE, Ind. (WPTA) - Fort Wayne Community Schools (FWCS) officials say South Wayne Elementary will close at the end of the 2025-26 school year.
According to a statement from the district, staff and parents were notified of the upcoming change on Monday.
FWCS leaders say the decision to close the school is due to the costs of repairing the old building, noting that impending funding reductions played a role in this choice.
FWCS Communications Manager Scott Murray shared the following statement:
Today, South Wayne staff were notified that South Wayne Elementary School will close at the end of the 2025-26 school year. Parents are also being notified today.
