NASHVILLE, Tenn. (WKRN) — Impacts to SNAP funding haven't just been felt in the grocery store.
Last week, the U.S. Department of Agriculture confirmed that SNAP benefits wouldn't be issued on Nov. 1. However, officials with President Donald Trump's administration told a federal judge Monday they would provide partial SNAP benefits for the month of November. Despite the partial funding, benefits could still be delayed by weeks.
Nonprofits, businesses and neighbors across the mid-state have stepped up to help provide food assistance to the roughly one in 10 Tennesseans who rely on SNAP each month. Aside from food costs, though, Nashville Electric Service has also stepped up to help customers who may need extra time to pay their bills.
