JEFFERSON CITY — Several businesses in Jefferson City are cleaning up after a shooting in the 3500 block of Missouri Boulevard over the weekend.

The Jefferson City Police Department said officers found one person with gunshot wounds in the area Saturday night and that the person died at the scene.

A clerk at a gas station nearby said she heard about everything the next day. She said she was shocked and saddened.

"It seems like it's getting closer and closer to my front door, and that's a little bit frightening," Maria Vignola said. "I wish this kind of thing didn't have to happen so close to home, but I guess it's just the way things are now a days, and I just wish it wasn't that way."
