WAYNE, Neb. (KTIV) - Wayne, Nebraska’s City Council will have an open seat that needs to be filed. Council Member Clayton Bratcher had asked to resign.

Monday, Nov. 3, the city council approved Bratcher’s request to resign, effective immediately.

Bratcher works in the Wayne County Sheriff’s Office, but recently took a job as a police officer with the city of Wayne.

The Wayne City Attorney says city employees cannot legally be on the council because it would be a conflict of interest.

Bratcher has been on the council for two years and has worked in law enforcement for 19 years.

Being a police officer will allow for Bratcher to continue serving his community.
