A man has been charged a year after allegedly stealing $140,000 worth of cryptocurrency.
Police allege the 36-year-old accessed a 29-year-old man’s online account and transferred the funds to his own digital wallet.
Detectives launched an investigation in November last year after reports of a large amount of cryptocurrency being stolen.
Following months of inquiries, the 36-year-old was arrested on Tuesday morning during a search warrant at a home in Barrack Point, in Shellharbour, south of Wollongong.
Several electronic devices were also seized for forensic examination.
The man has been charged with dishonestly obtaining a financial advantage by deception.
He was granted conditional bail and is due to appear before Port Kembla Local Court on December 3.
