YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio (WKBN) -- A former worker for the county for the Mahoning County Children Services Board pleaded not guilty Tuesday at her arraignment for theft in office charges.
Nancy Walker-McCain, 55, entered her pleas before Judge Maureen Sweeney in Mahoning County Common Pleas Court to two counts of theft in office, a fifth-degree felony, and a fifth-degree felony count of soliciting or receiving improper compensation.
She is free on a recognizance bond. A tentative trial date of Dec. 15 was scheduled before Judge John Durkin.
The Auditor of State’s Special Investigations Unit (SIU) opened an investigation in June 2023 after receiving information from the Mahoning County Sheriff’s Office concerning an investigation by MCCS of an employee related to her pay for counseling services
