The city of Port Huron Farmers Market is hosting a pop-up market Saturday, Nov. 8, at the Harvey Community Center.
The event, which runs from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m., aims to provide continued access to fresh produce in response to recent federal cuts to the Supplemental Nutrition Assistance Program , according to a community announcement.
The market is participating in the Double Up Food Bucks program, which allows SNAP or EBT users to receive a matching incentive to purchase fruits and vegetables. For example, a participant spending $30 in SNAP benefits will receive $30 in incentives for fresh produce. There is no longer a spending cap to this benefit.
