A newborn baby was found wrapped in a towel inside a black leather handbag nearly a decade ago, and police are still searching for the tragic tot's mum as a heartbreaking anniversary nears
Police are trying to trace the mother of a newborn baby boy who was found dead inside a black leather handbag and left in woodland near Newport in Wales.
The tragic discovery was made near Imperial Park, Coedkernew, in January 2016, prompting a major appeal to find the baby's mother amid concerns for her welfare. Officers have consistently stressed that the appeal is focused on the woman's wellbeing, not on pursuing a criminal investigation.
Nearly ten years later, Gwent Police are still searching. The baby's body was found at around 2pm on January 29, 2016, after a passer-by discovered the handbag
