WATERTOWN, New York (WWNY) - It’s Election Day and for a non-presidential election year, early voter turnout is looking unusually high locally. In fact, it has broken records in Jefferson and St. Lawrence counties.
In Jefferson County, 1,211 people showed up for early, in-person voting. That’s an all-time high for a non-presidential election year. In 2023, the last off-year election, a total of 893 people voted early.
In St. Lawrence County this year, a total of 1,063 early voters showed up in person, another all-time high. 2023 saw a far smaller turnout with 725 early voters
