STATESVILLE, N.C. (QUEEN CITY NEWS) — A major project in Statesville is nearly complete.
The City of Statesville has been replacing 5.7 miles of waterlines from the Water Treatment Plant to Iredell Memorial Park since March.
The purpose of the estimated $25.8 million project is to modernize infrastructure by upgrading the cast iron pipes, improving water quality and service reliability. The original waterlines were installed in the 1940s.
On October 31, construction had concluded in the Water Street area and has now progressed along Stockton and Brevard Street. Crews completed the interstate crossing, which can now be connected to both the treatment plant and the Carolina Avenue connection.
