Two off-duty first responders from different North Texas cities turned a day on the sidelines into a life-saving mission during a moment they least expected.

Referee Michael McClung was working a peewee football game recently in Forney when he started suffering from a cardiac event.

Luckily for him, Plano Firefighter Thomas Parker and Garland Police Captain Amir Shaabani happened to be at the complex watching their sons play in separate games.

The two jumped into action to help McClung, who had no pulse when they assessed him. They immediately began CPR and used an AED to restore his pulse before paramedics arrived.
