WARRICK COUNTY, Ind. (WEVV) — A Newburgh man is facing felony charges of killing a domestic animal and criminal recklessness with a deadly weapon after opening fire on a dog in a busy neighborhood, according to authorities.
Deputies with the Warrick County Sheriff's Office were called to investigate a report of a dog being shot in a neighborhood on West Fall Creek Drive around 5:15 p.m. Sunday afternoon.
At the scene, deputies say they discovered a 1-year-old Cane Corso named "Augie" had been killed.
Deputies say the victim told them another neighbor and their 5-year-old daughter had come over to see Augie and play, and that all three were in the front yard with the dog just before the shooting happened.
