FRONT ROYAL – An estimated 7.2 million Americans ages 65 and over are living with Alzheimer’s disease. According to the Alzheimer’s Association, another 200,000 Americans are diagnosed with young-onset dementia each year.
Each one of those individuals — and their loved ones — has their own story, their own unique experience with the progressive neurodegenerative disorder that affects the brain, leading to a gradual decline in memory, cognition, behavior and the ability to perform everyday tasks. Alzheimer’s disease is the most common cause of dementia, accounting for 60–80% of dementia cases. And it is incurable.
